How It All Started: A Thrift Store and a Big Dream
Griffin Furniture was born from a love for bringing old furniture back to life. Founders Sam and Shannon Griffin started their journey with a small thrift store, focusing primarily on used furniture. While Sam picked up the skills to repair and restore broken pieces, Shannon fell in love with painting, distressing, and transforming furniture into one-of-a-kind creations.
As their passion grew, so did their customer base. With every restored piece and satisfied client, their reputation for quality craftsmanship and creative design began to spread.
The Turning Point: From Refurbished to Handmade
Over the years, the Griffins transitioned from selling used pieces to creating entirely new, handcrafted furniture designed around their customers’ needs and preferences. They completed hundreds of custom orders, refining their skills and developing a unique style that blends timeless design with functional living.
In 2013, life took another exciting turn with the birth of their twins. Sam and Shannon knew they needed a more flexible work environment that still allowed them to pursue their passion. In 2014, they built a full woodworking shop in their backyard and made the bold move to close their storefront and move entirely online.
“It was a leap of faith, but one we’ll never regret,” says Shannon. “Griffin Furniture officially began the day we chose to fully invest in doing what we love—creating beautiful, custom furniture for families like ours.”
