The Lewis Entryway Bench: Honoring a Friend Who Became Family
At Griffin Furniture, every furniture name has a story.
Some are named after the city where the first piece was delivered. Others are named after a state, a street, or the family who inspired the design.
But every once in a while, a piece is named after someone whose impact goes far beyond furniture.
The Lewis Entryway Bench is one of those pieces.

More Than a Shipper
For many years, Jim Lewis was one of our trusted shippers.
But calling Jim a shipper doesn't come close to describing who he was to our family.
Jim was the kind of person who never hesitated to help.
No matter what needed to be done, he was always willing to lend a hand.
What made it even more remarkable was that he did all of this while in his 60s, often working circles around people half his age.
He never complained.
He never looked for recognition.
He simply showed up and did whatever was needed.

Family Beyond Business
Over the years, Jim became much more than someone we worked with.
He became family.
He loved our kids like they were his own grandchildren.
He always took time to talk with them, encourage them, and celebrate their accomplishments.
He loved our dogs and never missed an opportunity to stop and give them attention.
Most importantly, he cared about us.
Not because we worked together, but because that's the kind of man he was.
When Jim walked through the door, it felt less like a business relationship and more like family coming to visit.

Retirement in Florida
After years of hard work, Jim finally retired.
He and his wife moved to Florida, where they could slow down, enjoy life, and spend more time together.
We were happy for him.
He had earned every bit of that retirement.
While we missed seeing him around the shop, it was comforting knowing he was enjoying the next chapter of life doing exactly what he deserved—relaxing and making memories with the people he loved.

A Lasting Legacy
When Jim passed away, we spent a lot of time reflecting on the impact he had on our lives and on Griffin Furniture.
The truth is, our business would not be where it is today without people like Jim.
People who believed in us.
People who worked alongside us.
People who treated us like family.
We knew we wanted to find a way to honor him.
Something lasting.
Something meaningful.
That's when we decided to name one of our furniture pieces after him.

The Lewis Entryway Bench
Today, the Lewis Entryway Bench proudly carries Jim's name.
Every time we build one, we're reminded of his kindness, his work ethic, and the countless ways he helped our family over the years.
It's more than just a piece of furniture.
It's a tribute.
A reminder that success is never achieved alone.
It's built through friendships, loyalty, hard work, and the people who stand beside you along the way.
Thank You, Jim
The Lewis Entryway Bench will always serve as a reminder of a man who gave so much of himself to others.
A man who never asked for recognition.
A man who loved deeply, worked hard, and treated everyone like family.
Thank you, Jim Lewis, for everything you did for Griffin Furniture and for our family.
Your kindness lives on not only in our memories but also in every Lewis Entryway Bench we build.
And for that, your story will continue to be told for years to come.
