Why We Name Our Furniture the Way We Do
Why Griffin Furniture Names Every Piece the Way We Do
Have you ever wondered why our furniture has names like the Jacksonville Hall Tree, Oregon Mudroom Bench, Griffin Bed, or New York Mudroom Storage Bench?
Unlike large furniture companies that create random product names in a marketing meeting, every name at Griffin Furniture has a story behind it.
In fact, every furniture design we build is named after the very first customer who inspired it.

Every Design Starts With a Customer
Many of our most popular furniture pieces weren't created because we saw a trend online or copied a design from a catalog.
They started with a real customer.
Someone came to us with a vision for their home. They needed something specific—a different layout, more storage, extra hooks, larger cubbies, a unique size, or a completely custom design.
Together, we brought their idea to life.
Sometimes that design is so functional, beautiful, and practical that we realize other families would love it too.
When that happens, the custom piece becomes part of the Griffin Furniture collection.
And that's when it gets its name.

How We Choose Furniture Names
Every piece we add to our collection is named in one of four ways:
1. The City It Was First Delivered To
Many of our products are named after the city where the first order was shipped.
The very first customer who inspired that design becomes part of its story forever.
Every time someone orders that piece, it carries a little piece of its history with it.
2. The State It Was Delivered To
Sometimes a particular design becomes associated with the state where it first found its home.
When that happens, we may choose the state name instead of the city.
It's our way of honoring the customer who trusted us to build something completely unique.
3. The Street Name
Occasionally a design is named after the street where the original piece was delivered.
These names often become some of our favorites because they remind us of the exact project that started it all.
Behind every street name is a family, a home, and a custom furniture story.
4. The Customer's Last Name
Some designs are so closely connected to the customer who inspired them that using their family name simply feels right.
The Griffin Bed is a perfect example.
It was the first bed we ever built and was named after our own family because it represents where our journey began.
Other pieces may carry the last name of the customer whose idea sparked a design that countless others would later enjoy.

Our Customers Help Design Our Collection
One of the things that makes Griffin Furniture different is that our customers aren't just buying furniture—they're helping create it.
Many of our best-selling pieces started as a one-time custom request.
A customer needed something that didn't exist anywhere else.
We worked together to create it.
Then another customer saw it and loved it.
Then another.
And before long, a custom project became one of our most requested designs.
That means when you browse our collection, you're not just looking at furniture.
You're looking at ideas created by families just like yours.

More Than Furniture—It's a Story
Every product name at Griffin Furniture represents a real person, a real family, and a real home.
Behind every mudroom bench, hall tree, entertainment center, dresser, or bed is a customer who trusted us to build something special.
Those stories matter to us.
That's why we don't use random model numbers or generic product names.
We use names that remind us where each design came from and who inspired it.
Could Your Design Be Next?
One of our favorite things about building custom furniture is seeing new ideas come to life.
If you have a vision for your home, we'd love to help create it.
And who knows?
Your custom design might become the next Griffin Furniture favorite—and someday carry a name that tells your story too.
At Griffin Furniture, every piece has a purpose, every design has a history, and every name has a story.
